Recommendations

We’re often asked by our clients to recommend products – anything from web hosting to accounts packages to email services.

Sometimes, this can be difficult, as it may be a case of what suits one person my not suit another. However, there are certain things that we use that seem to stand head and shoulders above other products in the market and that we are happy to recommend wholeheartedly. So – all products on this page are those that WE USE and are very pleased with.

Website Hosting.

For years we used 1and1 for the majority of our sites and Hosting UK (great, but a little expensive) for a few. After one particularly bad experience with 1and1 customer service (not the first, neither) we took advice from one of our friends in the US and we switched all sites to H9 under a reseller package.

This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to resell anything – it’s a package for those who have a number of websites. We have around 30 sites, including hosting the kids sites for free, of course!

H9 did all the transfer work FOC and we’re now able to administer everything from one clear and simple dashboard. And when we’ve had a query, the support desk responds normally within an hour!

So for $19.95 (around £13 UK) we host our sites all around the world on different IP addresses. Magic!

Click the banner below and get 50% off your first month’s payment.

PS If you do sign up with H9, let us know and we’ll mail you a couple of tips (from our friend in the US) that will make the transfer and set up process super smooth.

Twitter

Until a month or so ago, if you’d have asked me for my opinion on Twitter or other Social Media sites, I’d have said “If you want to play silly messaging, then fine – but it isn’t for me!” I’ve held that rather entrenched view for quite a while, and only started to weaken because friends kept nagging me to “give it a go”.

I set up the account http://twitter.com/terencedwards  and have given it precious little time – after all, what the heck can you do with 140 characters?

And yet, amazingly, here I am, a month or so later with 20,000 followers! I get emails every week from business owners wanting to know more about what we can do to help turn their businesses around and I get a further 30 or so messages by email or DM to say that they agree with me on certain issues (or they don’t!)

I’m truly gobsmacked! Mr Twitter, I take back my thoughts of a month ago!

When I started, I soon realised that the spam boys were hell bent on selling us programmes to “Get 5,000 followers a day” etc. Thankfully, mails from this group have subsided – Twitter has obviously filtered them out or they’ve gone elsewhere to play.

I really don’t see the point of having gazillions of followers if most are off topic?!  I try to follow via specific business keywords – works great most of the time and I’m sure that people who aren’t interested just “clock off” anyway.

How have I reached 20,000 in such a short while?  I’d love to say it’s my magnetic personality and natural brilliance, but to be fair, I’ve had a little help from a little app that works in the background, round the clock, targetting who you want (as opposed to getting everyone and their dog following you!) It costs just peanuts a month and it automates everything you need to grow your Twitter account without spending hour after hour hunched over your PC.

Give it a try – I think there’s a free version to play with before you ahve to put your hand in your pocket…
