Business Success Is A State Of Mind

One of my favorite films is the Shawshank Redemption with Morgan Freeman. It’s about a man condemned to life in jail for the murder of his wife and lover. Tim Robbins plays the man who feels like the walls are closing in on him as he serves two life sentences and Freeman is the wise old jailbird who looks after him.

I mention this to point out that many business people we talk to feel like they have a life sentence with their business.

They go to work in the morning because they have to – not because they want to (as they did in the early days of the business).

And as the tough market conditions get tougher, they too feel like the walls are closing in.

It’s understandable…but if you’re a business owner, then you’ve got to take on board the grim reality of a line in the film…

“You get busy living or you get busy dying”
